Coroner identifies woman dead after crash on I-265 ramp to Preston Highway

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A woman involved in a collision yesterday morning has died, but authorities believe she became ill before crashing her vehicle.

According to Louisville Metro Police, the collision occurred around 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30. The LMPD Traffic Unit says an adult female was driving a car exiting Gene Snyder Highway onto Preston Highway when she appeared to have undergone a medical examination. emergency.

Officers say the car and its incapacitated driver entered the Preston Highway intersection and collided with several road signs before driving through a concrete wall and hitting a vehicle stopped at a red light.

EMS took the woman to UofL Hospital. His injuries were described as “critical and life-threatening.” She died in hospital around 3:25 p.m.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as 81-year-old Sandra Cischke.

The man driving the vehicle that was struck in the collision was transported to UofL Health-South Hospital in Brooks with minor injuries.
