Alexander Zverev aims to become the first German since 1992 to win the ATP Paris Masters

Alexander made his debut at the ATP Paris Masters in 2017.

Alexander Zverev is about to make history at the ATP Paris Masters 2024. After beating Holger Rune in the semi-finals, he is one victory away from becoming the first German since 1992 to win the title in Paris. Boris Becker was the first German player to win in Paris and he won titles in 1986 which was also the inaugural edition, 1989 and 1992.

Zverev could become the second German in history to triumph in Paris. He is participating in this event for the seventh time and will compete in his second final. Zverev reached the final in 2020 after beating Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the semi-final, he then lost to Daniel Medvedev after winning the first set.

The 27-year-old will face in-form players Ugo Humbert or Karen Khachanov in the Pars final. Zverev has much more experience in Paris than his rivals having made his debut in the event in 2017. He is used to the fast indoor hard courts of the AccorHotels Arena. Zverev is chasing history in the final and has already reached a milestone after reaching the fourth round in Paris.

Alexander Zverev’s performance so far at the ATP Paris Masters 2024

Zverev a few days ago became the fourth player to reach the round of 16 of all nine Masters 1000 events in a single season. He now needs an additional victory to write German history. He lost just one set en route to the ATP Paris Masters 2024 final. He spent more than seven hours on court while smashing 43 aces and making 87 winners.

Zverev’s first serve average was well over 210 km/h and his fastest serve was recorded at 229 km/h in the round of 16 against Arthur Fils. The numbers are tilted in favor of the German who is on the verge of winning the trophy. He has already qualified for the ATP Finals and a victory would be a major boost.

Zverev has a 1-1 record against Humbert and beat him in Paris last season. He also holds a 5-2 record against Khachanov and lost to the Russian in Paris six years ago. Currently, Zverev has the upper hand over his opponent in the final in Paris.
