Fifty years old, Amanda? Is this strictly true? Official documents show that actress Abbington is actually two years older than she claims…

They say you should never ask a woman her age, but if you tried to find out Amanda Abbington’s age, you might get two answers.

Official documents from Companies House reveal that the actress is actually two years older than she claims.

Her official Instagram profile was @AmandaAbbington74 before shutting it down earlier this year after being trolled following her fallout with Giovanni Pernice. It was thought that the “74” was a nod to the year of his birth, which would make him 50 years old.

The TV industry’s official website IMDB says the Strictly star was born in February 1974, making her 50 years old. This is also widely reported in the media. However, official documents for her company Mavis Clementine Limited list her under her real name, Amanda Smith, and show that she was born in February 1972.

Records from his bankruptcy 11 years ago, also under his real name, confirm the same – making him 52 years old. This involved a £120,000 tax bill owed to HMRC.

Ms Abbington discussed the challenges of quarantine in media interviews when she first joined Strictly – when she would have been 49.

A source said: “Amanda seems to have been very happy to accept that 1974 was the year she was born – that would have made her 49 when she first signed up to Strictly, and 50 now.

“But in reality, she’s two years older than that and she didn’t go out of her way to set the record straight – maybe she thought 49 sounded better.”

“And putting 74 on her Instagram page made it clear that she wanted to keep it that way.”

The BBC has apologized to Ms Abbington following her claims that Mr Pernice, 34, had been violent towards her during their Strictly training sessions.

Investigators confirmed six of her 17 accusations, but a video emerged of Ms Abbington showing her praising her partner and laughing at how much they swore at each other during rehearsals.

She said: “Giovanni and I played some really fun games. We have to be very careful because we swear a lot.

“We’re really bad swearers, all the time. We are scared and blind and we make each other laugh.

“He’s an incredible choreographer, he’s incredible and he’s created something really beautiful. It’s going to be so beautiful and wonderful and fun and I’m really excited.

Last month, Mr Pernice responded to her allegations, saying: “I have been portrayed as someone I am not. It seemed the only goal was to destroy me.
