Somerset teacher banned over ‘unacceptable behaviour’

A Somerset teacher has been banned from the profession after a Teaching Regulatory Agency committee concluded he had engaged in “professional misconduct”.

Daniel Usher-Clark, 47, was most recently employed as head of year at Bishop Fox School in Taunton – the school referred him to the Teaching Regulatory Agency (TRA) for investigation.

The decision of the TRA panel, chaired by Mr Diarmuid Bunting and published on October 31, states: “The panel recommended to the Secretary of State that Mr Daniel Usher-Clark be made the subject of a restraining order, with a review period of five years.”

Daniel Usher-Clarke worked at two secondary schools in Taunton, where he was found guilty of sending inappropriate messages and making sexual comments to several pupils.

THE panel finished that Mr Usher-Clarke’s conduct “fell significantly below the standards expected of the profession”.

Mr Usher-Clarke can appeal to have the restraining order lifted in 2029, five years from the date of the hearing.
