Cade Cunningham is confident the Detroit Pistons can recover from a slow start

After winning their first victory of the season on Wednesday, the Detroit Pistons must return to their field on Friday to try to continue their momentum. Unfortunately for them, things did not work out that way. Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks got off to a hot start early and never looked back.

Ultimately, the Pistons found themselves on the wrong end of a 128-98 blowout. The loss dropped them to 1-5 on the year, tied for the worst record in the Eastern Conference. Despite the current state of affairs, one of the team’s key players is confident that they will be able to turn things around.

After Friday’s loss, Cade Cunningham was asked about how the group handled this early-season adversity amid a 1-5 start. He has liked what he has seen from his teammates so far and remains optimistic about their abilities in the months to come.

“We were solid. It’s early” Cunningham said.. “I’m still very positive about this group, this season. We’ve had a rough start, but there’s a lot of basketball to be played. Like I said, we have two games coming up that we have to answer .”

Cunningham had a good start to the season and continued his impressive play against the Knicks. In 32 minutes of action, he posted a stat line of 22 points, six rebounds and six assists. It was an efficient night for the Pistons star as he shot 52.6% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. That said, his solid play wasn’t enough to keep Detroit within reach against the Knicks.

Looking ahead, the Pistons will be back in action on Sunday to face the Brooklyn Nets. This will be the first night of a back-to-back, as they take on LeBron James and the LA Lakers on Monday.
