Voluntary recall issued for Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon due to Listeria concerns

Check your smoked salmon, there is another recall.

In a recent announcement Tuesday, Acme Smoked Fish Corp., in conjunction with Costco, initiated a voluntary recall of certain packages of Kirkland Signature smoked salmon. This recall is being conducted with an abundance of caution due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The product in question is Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon, item number 1267000. The affected packages were purchased between October 9 and 13 and belong to lot number 8512801270.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause serious and even fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, according to the US Food and Drug Administration. Healthy people may only experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. However, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised not to consume it. Instead, they should return it to Costco for a full refund. For any issues or concerns, consumers can contact Acme Smoked Fish Corp. (718) 383-8585 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST.

Eduardo Carbajosa, CEO of Acme Smoked Fish Corp., expressed regret over the incident and assured that immediate corrective measures had been taken to prevent such problems from occurring in the future.
