I thought I’d have fun and name the Arlo Essential 2K outdoor security cameras “Fred” and “Doris.” This is mainly because the ‘Person detected on Fred’ and ‘Pet detected on Doris’ alerts made me laugh. Maybe you’re less ridiculous than me and want to give your cameras more boring names (maybe their locations). Hey, I’m not judging.

Of course, I had to download the Arlo Secure app to use and name them – and it wasn’t easy to pair the app with the devices. Holding the camera button until the light flashes does not guarantee it will pair. Oddly, when I mounted each camera individually and tried this, pairing was much simpler, so maybe the app was confused by the fact that there were two cameras in front of it?
