Wayanad understood Rahul Gandhi’s fight for truth, says Priyanka Gandhi – Kerala News

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said in Kerala’s Wayanad on Sunday that only people of Wayanad understood that her brother, Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi, was fighting for the truth.

Addressing an election rally at Mananthavady in Wayanad, she said, “When a major campaign was launched against my brother, it was you who understood that he was fighting for truth and right.

Rahul Gandhi also accompanied Priyanka to campaign for Lok Sabha bypolls on Sunday. Priyanka Gandhi entered politics after deciding to contest upcoming Wayanad Lok Sabha bypasses.

Priyanka Gandhi further said that Rahul Gandhi “fought hard” to improve the facilities at Wayanad Medical College, but the facilities still need to be better. She also told them she would tackle the region’s job shortage.

She also said that new roads would be constructed in Wayanad and steps would be taken to resolve the man-animal conflict in the area.

“Rahul Gandhi showed the way. He raised your issues in Parliament. But the problem is that governments do not work as governments for the people,” she said.

Mocking the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said, “PM Modi’s government only works for its extremely rich businessmen. Its aim is not to provide better health services, better standards of living or better employment opportunities. is to continue to stay in power. And what are these means? These means divide you, spread anger, spread hatred among you.

“He takes land and ports from you and gives them to businessmen,” she added.

Rahul Gandhi also addressed the gathering and told people that Priyanka Gandhi would be the “best possible MP” they would get.

Priyanka Gandhi’s decision to contest the elections followed Rahul quitting his seat after winning two constituencies, Wayanad and Rae Bareli, in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and vacating the Wayanad seat.

Priyanka Gandhi to contest elections against BJP’s Navya Haridas and senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Sathyan Mokeri, who was fielded as a candidate of the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Voting for the Wayanad bypolls will take place on November 13, while the counting of votes will take place on November 23.
