Deven Bhojani’s Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai is one of the most loved television shows in the country. With two seasons, the show continues to be appreciated for its writing and the performance of its actors. In a recent interview, the show’s screenwriter, Aatish Kapadia, recalled the casting process for the sitcom. He mentioned that the most difficult casting was that of Rupali Ganguly as the actor was skeptical about playing the role of Monisha.

In a conversation with Times Now/Telly Talk, writer-director Aatish Kapadia revealed how he recruited the five lead actors of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. He revealed that he wanted Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan, Rajesh Kumar and Rupali Ganguly on the sitcom. He said, “Yeah, paancho hai characters, unke liye maine, bahut clearly bol diya tha. Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumit Raghavan, Rupali, Ganguly aur Rajesh Kumar, I made it clear that I wanted all of these. »

Talking about the casting, Kapadia mentioned how getting Ganguly on board was the most difficult as she didn’t think she would be able to do justice to the role. Kapadia said, “Rupali khud dar rahi thi. Woh bol rahi thi ki main drama kar rahi hu, toh main, vamp kar rahi hoon, yeh kaise karungi? Humne kaha, haan haan, wo sab chhodna tu. (Rupali was scared. She told us that she works in theater and plays the role of a vampire in serials. She asked us how will she achieve this. We told her that you have to leave that )”

He also mentioned how Kumar had to learn South Bombay lingo as he hailed from Bihar. He said, “He had to work hard to achieve the drawl that people in South Bombay speak. He would visit these places and learn the accent. One day he understood and we told him: ‘You are Roshesh now.'”

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. The team took to their social media to thank fans for the love they continue to receive for the series to this day.
