Ramatuelle among the big names in Fasig-Tipton’s “Nuit desStars” sale

She may not have competed in the Breeders’ Cup in California, but Ramatuelle still has a date in the Kentucky ring on Monday.

Fasig-Tipton’s November sale, known as “Night of the Stars,” kicks off exciting breeding stock auctions in the state, followed by Keeneland on Tuesday.

Ramatuelle, a three-year-old trained by Christopher Head, one of seven Group/Grade 1 winners for rising star sire Justify, was scheduled to contest the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Del Mar, for which she was second favorite, but was eliminated. After a positron emission tomography (PET) scan, she found evidence of bone remodeling in her legs.

Ramatuelle won four of his nine races, including his final triumph in the Group 1 Prix de la Forêt at Longchamp, and never finished worse than third.

Co-owner Arthur Hoyeau said in a statement: “We are deeply disappointed that Ramatuelle has been withdrawn from the Breeders’ Cup, especially with the anticipation surrounding her as a top contender in this prestigious event.

“She moved beautifully all week at Del Mar and is in peak physical condition, making the result understandably frustrating for our team.

“We have tremendous respect for the Breeders’ Cup’s rigorous protocols and the dedicated veterinary team, whose responsibility to protect equine athletes is essential to our sport. Although Ramatuelle’s Pet Scan report states “no major degradation issues were identified”, he showed signs of bone remodeling. Although this is common among three-year-olds, it prompted the decision to proceed with great caution and remove her from the race.

Hoyeau added: “As a Group 1 winning daughter of Justify, Ramatuelle remains nominated for the Fasig-Tipton November Sale, and we will take a day to carefully consider her next steps.

“We have a very talented and healthy filly in Ramatuelle, and while the disappointment of today’s result is fresh, we are optimistic about an exciting future for her. We are grateful for the care and diligence of everyone involved in his career.

Fasig-Tipton had initially cataloged 300 entries for the sale, which will be held in Lexington starting at 2 p.m. local time (7 p.m. GMT).

“Fasig-Tipton has assembled some outstanding November catalogs over the years, but this one may be the most comprehensive yet,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning Jr. “We have cataloged 70 winners or producers of Graded Stakes, 24 of which are Grade 1.

“We have international champions, a Breeders’ Cup winner, the dam of the Kentucky Derby winner, several mares in foal to the world’s best stallions and an exceptional group of weanlings – all presented in one afternoon session and evening.

While Ramatuelle (hip 310), exhibited by Bedouin Bloodstock, did not have the opportunity to show her talent to the American public before the sale, but many big names ready to step into the ring have already done so, including a mare who could have to be part. of her rivals in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, Chili Flag (235).

She ships by Elite, as does Frankel’s Tattersalls Book 1 Sale graduate McKulick (289), winner of the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks in 2022.

Hill ‘n’ Dale’s draft includes some three Tier 1 winners in War Like Goddess (210), who finished a good fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf on Saturday, and Adare Manor (214), who has won his last three starts, most recently the Clement L Hirsch Stakes.

The former Fev Rover trained by Richard Fahey (253), a two-time Grade 1 winner in North America since joining Mark Casse, was due to be sold at this auction last year, but it was a withdrawal.

Kathmandu (276), who finished unplaced on the Breeders’ Cup undercard at Del Mar on Saturday, was one head away from winning this year’s Poule d’Essai des Pouliches for the Brian Meehan stable.

Take time off (318), a half-sister to undefeated Breeders’ Cup champion Immersive, was a late addition. A winning daughter of Curlin, Takingtimeoff is in foal to Yaupon and will be offered by Hunter Valley Farm.

The prettiest of the royal race (174) – from Dubawi of Alice Springs – is expected to leave the fold of Aidan O’Brien and Coolmore, while Velocidad (208), Curragh Group 2 winner for O’Brien’s son Joseph, is also among the bids. Both are sold in foal to Justify.

Madam (285), meanwhile, the Kentucky Derby winning dam of this year’s hero Mystik Dan, mentioned by Browning, is shown in foal to Into Mischief.
