Update on search for Taylor Casey, who went missing four months ago

Taylor Casey is still missing more than four months after disappearing from a yoga retreat in the Bahamas.

Casey was last seen on June 19 in the Bahamas. She was attending the Sivananda Ashram yoga retreat and studying for her yoga teaching certification. The Chicago resident had been practicing yoga for more than 15 years.

A fundraising to help find Casey, he has raised over $47,000 so far, and donations are still being collected. Donations funded a trip to the Bahamas to support search efforts, a press conference, an attorney and a private investigation team.

Organizers said continued donations would help fund additional trips to the Bahamas and Washington, D.C., financial support for the family, ongoing legal and investigative costs as well as national and international awareness.

Casey’s mother Colette Seymore recently said News week that she had not received any updates from authorities. She said Illinois senators and other elected officials continue to communicate with the U.S. Embassy in the Bahamas.

A spokesperson for Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth said News week that she participates in research efforts.

“Senator Duckworth is closely monitoring this heartbreaking situation and is working closely with the appropriate federal agencies. She will continue to coordinate with Ms. Casey’s family to assist them in any way possible,” the spokesperson said. .

Seymore also called for increased security at the Ashram yoga retreat.

“I think they need security cameras,” Seymore said. “They need to have security guards. They need to have security around this place because anyone can come in.”

She said people spend thousands of dollars to attend the retreat.

“Taylor spent almost $4,000 to go sleep in a tent and not be protected,” Seymore said.

Seymore traveled with Emily Williamsa friend of Casey’s, traveled to the Bahamas to speak to yoga retreat managers, staff and students immediately after Casey’s disappearance.

“It became clear to us that things are not being handled the same way they would be if they were happening in the United States,” Williams said. News week. “And so that was a real concern for us, because we think every resource possible should be devoted to finding Taylor.”

Williams had also complained about the lack of updates at that time.

“We were promised an update on July 12, which we have not received, and so we remain open and willing to communicate directly with Bahamian authorities,” Williams said. “And that’s what we’re asking for, that’s what we’re asking for, that’s what we’ll continue to ask for.”

An anonymous donor paid $10,000 for information on Taylor’s disappearance.
