Trump criticizes his decision on the electoral rolls and the projects stop in Virginia

Former President Donald Trump on Friday condemned a federal judge’s ruling that Virginia must restore 1,500 voters purged from the rollers. He also said he would stop in Virginia before Election Day.

In a post to Truth SocialTrump said he would release news of his Virginia stop on Saturday when he convened a rally in Chesterfield County featuring his daughter-in-law, Lara, co-chair of the Republican National Committee.

“Drowsy Joe Biden and Comrade Kamala Harris ridiculously accuse me of wanting to ‘weaponize’ the Justice Department, when they have done all the militarization work,” Trump wrote in an article on Truth Social.

“Now, their truly armed “Injustice” Department, and a judge (appointed by Joe), have ORDERED the Great Commonwealth of Virginia to put non-citizen voters back on the rolls. This is a totally unacceptable travesty, and Governor Youngkin is absolutely right to appeal this ILLEGAL ORDER, and we hope the United States Supreme Court fixes it!

“Only American citizens should be allowed to vote. Keep fighting, Glenn – AND VIRGINIA REPUBLICANS, KEEP VOTING EARLY! I will be calling Glenn’s rally with Lara Trump tomorrow morning to talk about this crazy decision and announce my last stop in Virginia before Election Day.

A federal judge in Alexandria ruled Friday that Virginia must reinstate 1,500 voters removed from the rolls under an executive order by Gov. Glenn Youngkin issued Aug. 7. Youngkin said he was acting under a 2006 state law in an effort to remove ineligible voters from the rolls. . The judge agreed with lawyers and the U.S. Department of Justice, who sued Virginia, arguing that the state’s purge violates federal law, which prohibits systematic purges of voter rolls within 90 days following a federal election.

On Saturday morning, Lara Trump — who is married to Trump’s son, Eric — will join Youngkin, Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st, and Hung Cao, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, for a rally at Keystone Acres in Chesterfield County . In the Richmond area, the 1st District includes parts of Chesterfield, Henrico and Hanover counties.

Cao faces U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va. Wittman faces Democrat Leslie Mehta in the 1st District.

On Thursday, Trump promoted his daughter-in-law’s appearance in a post on X, formerly Twitter, and hinted he might return to Virginia before the election. He confirmed this plan in his message on Friday.

Susan Swecker, chair of the Virginia Democratic Party, said in a statement: “Donald Trump knows he cannot and will not win Virginia; he is trying to exploit Glenn Youngkin’s illegal voter purge to satisfy his own obsessions. Kamala Harris will win Virginia convincingly, as Trump knows, and any visit from this deranged madman will only widen the margin.
