Election 2024: New York City surpasses 1 million early voters, says New York Board of Elections

NEW YORK (WABC)– New York City has officially surpassed one million anticipated votersaccording to the New York Board of Elections.

Sunday marks the final day of early voting in the tri-state area, and tens of millions of voters nationwide have already cast ballots ahead of Election Day.

There is still time for those who wish to vote early, as polls close at 5 p.m. on Sunday in New York. In New Jersey and Connecticut, polls close at 6 p.m.

More than 940,000 votes have been cast since early voting began in New York, according to estimates from the New York Board of Elections.

Last Saturday, more than 140,000 people voted early in New York in a poll record participation rate on the first day.

Registered voters can also choose to vote on Tuesday, Election Day.
