Pistons forced to take subway to Nets game due to New York marathon

The New York Marathon took place on Sunday and ended up giving the Detroit Pistons some problems.

With much of the city’s major avenues closed to the thousands of runners rushing through the streets, the Pistons were apparently unable to get from their hotel to the Barclays Center for their 3:30 p.m. ET game against the Brooklyn Nets . The natural pivot? Jump on the subway.

Here’s a video of the entire roster hanging out on the 3 train.

For those wondering how this could happen: Detroit was scheduled to play the Knicks and Nets this weekend. It seems likely that the team stayed in midtown Manhattan, near Madison Square Garden, and planned to just walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to Barclays for the Nets game. But the Brooklyn Bridge is completely closed on Marathon Sunday, leaving no choice but to use the MTA.

Pistons players had to take the train to work, just like millions of other New Yorkers.
