Chuck Todd’s biggest fear for the next generation if Trump wins

NBC News Chief Political Analyst Chuck Todd revealed Sunday what his biggest fear is about the upcoming election, if Donald Trump defeats Kamala Harris and returns to the White House.

At the last Meet the press from NBC News, Todd joined Telemundo’s senior Washington correspondent Cristina Londono Rooneyancient Mike Pence chief of staff Marc Courtand MSNBC host and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki for the round table with the host Kristen Welkercovering Tuesday’s election.

As the group discussed the outcome, Todd suggested that “neither party” would accept the results of the election. But his biggest fear is that, if Trump were to win, it would doom both American politics and perhaps the government, or at least the Republican Party, for “a generation.”

“You know, my biggest fear about this election is that if Trump wins, I think for a generation this is what they believe, this is the way you behave in politics and that this will cement this for a generation,” he said. “I fear its transactional nature will turn the party into a kleptocracy if we are not careful.”

“I think that’s what I think is on the ballot about the future of our politics for another, for another half generation,” Todd said.

Well, look, I, I – what’s fascinating about this is that neither party will be satisfied – they won’t accept defeat. The question is: “Do you accept defeat because you don’t like the vote count” or “Do you not accept defeat because you don’t like the way the party did it?” isn’t it?

I – you know, my biggest fear about this election is that if Trump wins, I think for a generation that’s what they believe, that’s the way you behave in politics and that this will cement that for a generation. I fear its transactional nature will turn the party into a kleptocracy if we are not careful.

And one thing about political parties: when they lose, they end up trying to imitate the party that wins. Not necessarily.

And while the Democrats have tried to be the anti-version of this situation, losing two out of three, there will be its own reckoning within the left that might make some people say, “Hey, if you can’t don’t beat them, join them. “, you know, whether it’s lying or exaggerating, whatever you want – I think that’s what I think is on the ballot on our policy going forward for another, for another half -generation.
