Snow showers will impact I-25 overnight and Monday morning

Tonight’s forecast:
Radar is currently showing rain showers on I-25 and snow showers in the mountains. The arrival of a cold front will lower temperatures and ease the transition from rain to snow. The Palmer Divide could see heavy snowfall at times, but farther south the weather will be a little lighter. The snow is expected to taper off from west to east and end around 2 p.m. for the springs.

Colorado Springs Forecast: Low: 30; High: 39;
We will start to see snow showers move into the area overnight and into Monday morning. This storm will likely impact your commute, so plan accordingly. Snow will be heavier towards the north side of the springs, closer to Monument and Briargate. The snow will stop around 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Pueblo Forecast: Low: 35; High: 44;
Pueblo will drop into the mid 30s for tonight and you will see more of a rain/snow mix if the rain makes it that far. Pueblo will likely only see a trace if temperatures remain cooler. Tomorrow highs will be in the mid 40s.

Forecast for Canon City: Weak: 35; High: 42;
Canon City will also see more of a rain/snow mix with lows tonight still above freezing. Tomorrow highs will be in the 40s and we will start to clear out in the afternoon.

Forecast for Woodland Park: Weak: 21; High: 32;
Woodland Park has the best chance of seeing snow with temperatures dropping into the 20s tonight. Snow will arrive overnight and last all morning. This will likely affect early morning travel, so leave a few minutes early. Snow can sometimes be heavy.

Tri-Lakes Forecast: Weak: 25; High: 33;
The Palmer Divide will have the best chance of snow due to the elevation. Snow showers will begin this evening and last through the morning. The monument and the Black Forest could see a few centimeters of snow. Lows tonight will be in the mid 20s. Tomorrow, highs will only reach around 33 degrees.

Plains Forecast: Weak: 1930s; High: 1940s;
Most of the plains will see rain or a rain/snow mix. Closer to Kim and Springfield we could see some more snow totals. This will take a little longer for you guys and will probably be available early morning and afternoon on Monday.

Forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: Weak: 30/29; High: 35/36;
Walsenburg and Trinidad will experience widespread snow showers this evening and could end up with a few inches of snow. Snow could become heavy at times, especially around Trinidad. These showers will leave the area late Monday afternoon.

Mountain forecast: Low: 20 years old; High: Upper 30s/Lower 40s;
The mountains are already seeing snow accumulating and this will continue until tomorrow. Snow totals will be highest for the Wet Mountain Peaks and Sangre De Cristos. This is where we may see the greatest impacts, and if you travel to this area, please use caution. You’ll want to wait until this storm has passed.

Extended Outlook Forecast:
In anticipation of Election Day (Tuesday), the storm system will have passed and will leave us with warmer temperatures. The sun will be out for the first half of the day, but by late evening we will see more clouds rolling in from another storm system. We could see a few more snow showers in higher terrain.

We are still ironing out the details of this next system, but this system could stay stuck over the state for a few days and bring more snow during the second half of the week. Again, this could change, but right now it appears to be an even bigger storm than Monday’s.
