Vikings and Sam Darnold on the wrong end of another missed call

The Vikings, Sam Darnold and NFL officials are clearly not on the same page when it comes to controversial calls. If that wasn’t bad enough last Thursday night, when officials botched a facemask call on Byron Young, resulting in a game-ending safety, he was subsequently fined by the league. There was yet another bad decision Sunday night against the Colts.

Darnold was sacked and Indianapolis returned him for a touchdown – but that shouldn’t have counted. Grover Stewart caught Darnold high and made contact with his face and knocked him to the ground, causing the official to throw a flag. But he quickly figured it out and declared it a legal game.

As you can imagine, Kevin O’Connell was not happy. He had a meeting with three referees on the sidelines to understand why the flag was picked up. But there was nothing to do until then.

Darnold now has two turnovers for the Vikings. He threw a terrible interception as Minnesota drove into the Colts’ red zone, then committed a fumble later.
