Walz says Trump campaign ‘descending into madness and darkness’ in closing message

Walz spoke briefly with reporters Sunday at a restaurant in Gastonia, North Carolina, where he attempted to portray the Trump campaign’s closing message as an “unmitigated disaster.”

“Now you saw this last week, the opportunity to close out a campaign. On the other hand, it is an absolute disaster, telling us that this country is not working, that it is descending into madness and darkness and division, that it is disrespecting our fellow citizens of Puerto Rico and the whole country, they continue to do this,” Walz said.

Democrats, and Walz in particular, have ramped up their rhetoric against Trump as the election cycle draws to a close.

Walz previously claimed there was a “direct parallel” between Trump’s raucous rally at Madison Square Garden in October and a 1939 pro-Nazi rally.

Walz emphasized the importance of the battleground state on Sunday, saying, “We win North Carolina, this thing is over.” »

Trump leads Harris in the state by 1.5 percentage points, 48.8% to 47.3%, according to survey of RealClearPolitics.
