Ten fishermen, who were kidnapped by robbers, were rescued by the Forest Department officials after a gunfight in Takkakhali area of ​​Chunkuri River in Sundarbans.

Three boats, a solar panel and a ball were recovered.

The rescued fishermen are Abdul Alim, 62, Nur Islam, 45, Rabiul Islam, 28, Hafizur Rahman, 45, Raju Fakir, 47, Shafiqul Islam, 45, Rafiqul Islam, 45, Mafizur, 38 , and Nazrul Islam, 57 years old.

Solaiman, an officer of the Kadamtala forest station in the Satkhira range, said that after being informed, they carried out an operation in the river to rescue the fishermen yesterday afternoon (November 3).

Sensing their presence, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing them to fire five bullets, he explained.

At one point, the thieves fled, leaving the fishermen behind.

The rescued fishermen were taken to the Burigoalini station of the forest department, he said.

The fishermen claimed that the thieves led by one Manju kidnapped them from several places in the forest for ransom.
