Jeevan Pramaan Patra | Life certificate submission window is now open: how retirees can complete the process

The government requires all central government pensioners to submit an annual life certificate to continue receiving their pensions. For retirees under the age of 80, the submission window opened on November 1 and will close on November 30.

If a life certificate is not presented at the end of this period, the payment of pensions will be suspended from December.

This annual audit helps the government ensure that pensions are paid only to eligible people.

Who must present the annual life certificate?

Around 69.76 lakh central government pensioners have to submit their life certificate every year to keep their pension payments active.

The submission window started earlier, on October 1, for retirees aged 80 and over, giving them more time to complete the process.

All other retirees must meet the November 30 deadline to avoid any interruption in payments.

How to present the life certificate?

Retirees have several options for submitting their life certificate, making it easy for them to complete this requirement. Here are the main methods:

Submission in person: Pensioners can visit their pension disbursing bank, post office or other government-designated centers to present their life certificate in person.

Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan): To simplify the process, retirees can use the Jeevan Pramaan Digital Service, accessible through the Jeevan Pramaan app or website. This service uses biometric verification, allowing the certificate to be submitted digitally.

Retirees who opt for the digital method can visit a bank, post office or other service center equipped with biometric devices or complete it from home if they have the necessary equipment.

Home banking services: Many public sector banks are now offering home banking services to help retirees complete their life certificate application without leaving their homes.

Pensioners can request a visit from a bank representative who will collect the biometric data and present the certificate on their behalf.

This service may be useful for people with mobility issues or health problems.

Submission via pension payment offices: Some pension payment offices may also accept life certificates directly. Retirees should contact their specific office to confirm if this option is available.
