Geneva City Council Overview: Parking Ordinance Updates, Financial Update, Planning Board Structure on Agenda

The Geneva City Council will convene Wednesday for a meeting that will cover several critical topics, including parking reform, financial updates and community development plans. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at City Hall, with a live stream available on the city’s YouTube channel.

Among the main points of discussion is a review of the city’s parking regulations. Council members are expected to provide feedback to city staff, who are working to update parking ordinances that cover both on-street parking and parking lots. The discussion will focus on ongoing community complaints and suggestions aimed at refining Geneva’s parking policies to better serve residents and businesses.

City Comptroller Adam Blowers will present the third quarter financial update, providing insight into Geneva’s financial health and budget projections. This segment is expected to give council members a detailed understanding of revenues and expenditures, informing decisions on budget adjustments as the city looks toward 2025. Additionally, the meeting will include an agenda item proposing a hearing public to modify sewer rates, reflecting planned adjustments to support ongoing maintenance of utilities.

The Council will also discuss potential changes to the structure of the Planning Board, considering a reduction in the number of members from nine to seven in order to streamline its functions. Another proposal aims to support the city’s application for the state’s Restore NY funding program, which would boost local development and revitalization efforts. This measure will also involve the organization of a public hearing, allowing residents to express themselves in Geneva’s development projects.

The evening’s agenda concludes with a resolution to adopt the Ontario County Hazard Mitigation Plan, a collaborative effort to address regional safety and disaster preparedness needs.
