Woman says her mother-in-law showed up uninvited to ‘redecorate’

A woman expecting her first child says her mother-in-law kept overstepping her boundaries when it came to daycare, and it eventually became a major problem.

In a recent article on Reddit “Am I the A——?”, the 26-year-old shared that she and her husband, 27, are expecting their first child. Now 32 weeks pregnant, the woman said “things are going pretty well” except when it comes to her mother-in-law, who “has always been a bit of a nightmare.”

As the couple continued to progress through the nursery, the woman said her mother-in-law “decided to invite herself in more” and that during her visits she would “walk around the nursery and start rearranging things” .

“One time she literally bought an IKEA bag full of stuff and put it in it,” she added. But instead of making a big deal about the fact that her mother-in-law was trying to “redecorate,” the woman said her comments never went further than saying, “Oh, thank you so much for that thought.” »

Then things took a turn for the worse.

“I don’t know if it was because of the pregnancy hormones, but I just looked at her for a while and then told her to get out of the house,” the woman wrote.

In a later updatethe woman said she told her husband everything – and he was “furious” with his mother.

He agreed to talk to her alone, but not before making sure he and his wife were on the same page regarding their boundaries.

After her husband had lunch with his mother, the woman said he felt like everything had been “settled.” A few minutes later, she even received a message from her mother-in-law, who told her “that she was really sorry for what she had said to me” and “that she was wrong”.

The woman said her mother-in-law also promised to “only visit her when invited” and not to enter the nursery again.

Although the woman said, “I’ll believe it when I see it,” she admitted that “at least it’s a good start.”
