Guardiola predicts points for Premier League title race

In recent seasons, Manchester City have often needed more than 90 points to win the title. But Guardiola believes this year could be different.

“Of course, absolutely,” he replied when asked if fewer points could still secure the title.

With a busy schedule that includes Champions League matches and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, Guardiola sees the challenges piling up.

“If we had had five more days to prepare and recover (for Bournemouth) we might have been better,” he noted.

City’s current squad is also dealing with injuries. Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Rodri are absent, while defensive stars John Stones and Ruben Dias are likely to miss the action until after the international break.

Guardiola expressed concern over the grueling match schedule, likening the demands placed on his players to those faced by NBA athletes, but without the same rest.

“It’s like the NBA, but they have four months of vacation and we have three weeks. You’ve had injuries for a long time that haven’t happened before. It’s normal, it’s going to happen. We have to manage this. he remarked.

Despite this setback, Guardiola remains optimistic about City’s future.

“We’re going to learn from it and get better,” he said, keeping the title race alive as his team continues to endure an intense season.
