FA Cup: Kettering Town consider pitch options for second round tie

Kettering Town could look to try and increase their ground capacity after earning a home tie against Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup second round.

The Poppies won 2-1 after extra time at League One neighbors Northampton Town to reach the second round for the first time since 2010 and win £45,000 from the competition’s prize fund.

Latimer Park, home of Southern League Premier club Central for 11 years, has a capacity of just over 3,000.

“We’ll have to make a few phone calls to see what we can do to make it a little more suitable and attract a few more people to it,” finance director Rob McGreavey told BBC Radio Northampton.

“At the start of every season we don’t assume any sort of cup race so everything is a bonus. The money we made from the first round was incredible and that only adds more. The challenge is then to know what to do with this.

“As a board we have been discussing the things we want to do on the ground since George (Akhtar) and Fabian (Forde) came in as new owners and the money coming in means we can start to do it as soon as possible.
