Liverpool 2-1 Brighton: Fans’ Views

We asked for your opinion after Saturday’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Brighton.

Here are some of your comments:

Liverpool fans:

Linda: I thought Brighton played very well in both games this week. Liverpool’s attitude and commitment to winning these games was exceptional – lovely play and energy from everyone involved – playing for and with each other. Slot made the transition from Klopp’s departure to his arrival seamless. I look forward to seeing how this season plays out. You never know…

Rhys: Slot made Liverpool so resilient. Gone is the intensity of the attack under Klopp and in its place is a calm calm. Even being behind, there is no panic. They just stick to the system and work from the back to the front.

Rock : Sloppy first half but showed courage and determination in the second. I thought Gomez had a great game after replacing Konate and was unlucky not to score. Salah is still incredible… where is the contract offer? Liverpool return to the top of the championship. So far so good, but the big test will come against Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Richard: The first half was dismal. The second, much better. Why couldn’t we muster the urgency we saw in the second half of the second half earlier in the game? This kind of syndrome – allowing ourselves to fall behind, sitting back and waiting for the crowd to force us to spring up with intention and pressure – we should do from minute one.

Brighton fans:

Brian: The first 45 minutes was the best performance I can remember from a Brighton team. Hinshelwood and Ayari were excellent in midfield. Liverpool deserved their victory in the end, but knowing we have Pedro, Baleba, O’Riley, Minteh, March and Dunk all set to return from injury makes me believe the future for us is very bright.

Well: When are we going to become a little more streetwise? For the second goal, we again allowed a player to run half the length of the pitch. Surely a quick hit on the jersey, take the yellow card and slow the game down. The subs were 10 minutes too late. After 65 minutes our midfield started chasing shadows and needed to be refreshed.

Sat : There were a lot of positives to take away. We could have had three at halftime. However, we were destroyed by a large attack. The only question I have is why didn’t Hurzeler put the subs in sooner?

Nicholas: Brighton have shown signs that they can mix it with the best and the future looks bright for them. There’s just this lack of experience and focus that keeps them away from the big six clubs. After Manchester City next week, they should pick up 18 points from 21 – so keep an eye on them.
