Donald Trump gets ‘nuclear football’ and ‘cookie’ if he wins 2024 US presidential election

The free world is about to have a new leader and there’s a good chance it will be Donald Trump again as the 2024 US presidential election draws to a close.

But whoever wins the controversial Republican candidate and his adversary, Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris, the 47th president of the UNITED STATES will receive what is called “nuclear football”. And to make the terminology a little weirder, given that it gives a new president something known as a “biscuit.”

Although it may sound like a fever dream of words, the reality for them is much more sinister, serious and very real.

What is “nuclear football”?

More than 150 million votes are expected for the 2024 presidential election, which will be held Tuesday, November 5.

As Trump seeks return to Oval Office after losing to outgoing president President Joe Bidenit’s Biden’s vice president who faces him as Harris seeks to take the plunge and succeed her current boss.

No one can call an election as polls are in the middle of the margin of error. So it’s everyone’s game, under the gaze of the world who watches and holds their breath.

Whether we have a President Harris or Trump, after all, the Biden administration will abandon the “nuclear football.”

This has nothing to do with the NFL, though, with it being a million miles from the field or Super Bowl Sunday. Instead, it’s an actual black briefcase containing incredibly powerful items in case a president wants to carry out a nuclear strike.

“Nuclear football” and the “biscuit”

At the White House, nuclear football is sidelined given the veritable center of operations that exists within it when it comes to launching a nuclear strike.

But outside of these fixed command centers, the POTUS must, at all times, travel with a mobile command and control system.

Inside the nuclear football is the presidential emergency bag; a certain number of codes that the president had to read made it possible to confirm their identity to the military at the Pentagon.

Nuclear Football also offers a list of optional plans for preemptive or retaliatory nuclear strikes; a list of sites where the president could safely stay during a nuclear conflict; and a description of procedures for using the country’s emergency alert system.

A plastic card known as a “biscuit” is also included. This is a series of golden codes that the POTUS must consult to launch a nuclear strike. These codes differ from the codes allowing you to launch anything from the nuclear arsenal.

Using the cookie, the President is expected to read them and allow their identity to be confirmed to military personnel at the National Military Command Center.

Launch a nuclear bomb

The process required to launch a nuclear weapon is much more thoughtful than one might think.

Before the nuclear football is activated, the POTUS must initiate a conference with military and civilian advisors to ensure that such an act would not violate international law, which means the president must jump through hoops regardless or the person who sits in the Oval Office.

In total, there are three nuclear footballs. One is worn by the POTUS and the other by the vice president, who would assume command if the president died or was no longer of sound mind.

The third nuclear football is in the White House at all times.

When it comes to giving either Trump or Harris the nuclear presidential ball – something they both have already possessed in their previous and current positions, respectively – it’s a process that is usually undertaken shortly before the inauguration ceremony during which they officially become the next president. of the United States.
