76ers vs. Suns predictions, picks and odds for tonight’s NBA game

The Sixers are off to a 1-4 start without their two best players, and while Paul George is expected to return tonight, our NBA betting picks don’t see him turning things around in the blink of an eye against a tough Suns team.

The Philadelphia 76ers are hoping the addition of a star player to the roster can help change their luck as they visit the Phoenix Suns on Monday night.

Phoenix has been by far the better team early this year, and I’ll tell you why I expect that trend to continue tonight in my 76ers vs. Suns predictions.

76ers vs. Suns Prediction

My best bet
Suns -7 (-105 on bet365)

My analysis

It’s hard to imagine a much better start to the season for the Phoenix Sunswho are 5-1 and undefeated at home to start the year. Devin Booker (26.7 ppg) and Kevin Durant (25.8 ppg) are both healthy and playing well, putting up big numbers while playing less than 40 minutes per game.

Phoenix is an even more imposing team with pack Bradley Beal in the lineup, who contributes an additional 17.3 points per game to an offense that has no shortage of threats. The Suns have been particularly deadly from the outside, shooting 38.2 percent from 3-point range while limiting their opponents to just 43 percent shooting from the field overall.

Since we are dealing with a small sample size, it is important to know to whom these figures relate. In the Suns’ case, half of their games came against solid opposition from the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, which lends some credibility to their performance. But even their matches against lesser competition seem more imposing than a clash with the Philadelphia 76erswho are struggling to stand out from the crowd this fall.

The 76ers can’t be satisfied with their 1-4 start this year, although that record comes with some important caveats. Philadelphia has yet to see what its team will look like with Joel Embiid on the court, and has only just played with new addition Paul George, who will dress for Monday night’s game.

It’s hard to see George – playing for the first time this season – making a difference in tonight’s game. It’s unclear how well the Sixers will integrate him into their offense, nor how dominant he can be on the defensive end as he enters his age-34 season.

Philadelphia needs improvement on both sides of the ball, and while George will help, he’s not going to instantly topple a team that ranks 30th in field goal percentage allowed (49.6%), 26th in scoring (107, 2 points per game) and 29th in scoring. bounce rate (46.9%). The 76ers need dramatic improvements in all facets of the game to compete with the Suns.

The line tonight is seven points, and on a neutral field I might at least be tempted to stay away from the sideline. But the Suns should have no trouble winning this home game against a Philadelphia team that is still far from complete.

Parlay 76ers vs Suns in the same game (SGP)

Suns -7

Less than 223.5

Tyrese Maxey Under 27.5 points

While I like the Suns to win tonight’s game, I also think a change in Philadelphia’s roster will have clear impacts on this contest, and I’m using that to create my SGP.

George’s return to the 76ers will, overall, be an asset to Philadelphia’s defense. This should push this game below what would otherwise be an all-time total for these teams. I’m combining the Under with a bet on the Suns to cover.

Additionally, George will take his share of the scoring in the 76ers offense. This means at least a little dip for Tyrese Maxeywho averages 29.8 points per game. Maxey’s usage should decrease a bit, which leads me to take the Under on his point total tonight.
