Donald Trump addresses supporters in North Carolina

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told “Good Morning America” Monday that Democrats are “on the right side” on the most pressing issues in the presidential election.

“Extremist MAGA Republicans have clearly and unequivocally expressed what they will do to America in the future,” Jeffries said.

“They will carry the torch on Social Security, they will carry the torch on Medicare, they will carry the torch on the Affordable Care Act,” Jeffries said.

Vice President Kamala Harris, Jeffries said, “ends with a positive outlook,” while former President Donald Trump and his Republican Party “try to tear us apart.”

Jeffries will become House speaker if Democrats regain control of the chamber this week.

“The majority of current House Republicans voted not to certify the 2020 election,” Jeffries said. “My colleagues across the aisle do not seem able to say unequivocally that they will certify the election and the verdict rendered by the American people.”

“As House Democrats, that’s what we will do,” Jeffries added.

“We believe in democracy even if we don’t agree with the outcome. It’s part of what has made America the greatest democracy in the history of the world.”
