A campaign in Saudi Arabia collected approximately 100 million riyals (approximately $26.7 million) in donations to help the Gaza, Shrouk News reported on Sunday, citing King Salman Relief Center spokesperson Dr Samer Al-Jatili.

The donations will be used to purchase ambulances, water tanks and food, in the context of Israel’s indiscriminate war against the besieged Gaza Strip, which has lasted since October 2023.

Al-Jatili told local media that the King Salman Relief Center has coordinated with authorities to ensure aid reaches civilians in Gaza as the war continues to rage.

He added that he hopes these donations will send a “firm message” to the world that the Kingdom stands with Palestine.

The campaign, titled “Gaza Relief,” benefited from contributions from more than two million donors, Al-Jatili said. Al Khabariya Television in an interview.

“These (donation) figures are not new when looking at the Kingdom’s history of donations, however, they reiterate that the support does not stop, and we pray that the suffering of those in Palestine come to an end,” he said.

“We will not abandon the Palestinian people, whatever the cost or burden,” he continued.

In September, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs pledged to help alleviate the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip by sending monthly aid to the “brothers of Palestine” in an effort to alleviate the “humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.” Gaza Strip and its surroundings.

The Foreign Ministry did not specify the amount or the exact recipients, but it came after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas visited Saudi Arabia in August.

Before the outbreak of war in Gaza in 2023, Saudi Arabia was on the verge of normalizing relations with Israel, with anti-Israeli and pro-Palestinian narratives removed from Saudi media.

Gaza has been completely devastated by the Israeli war, particularly in the north where Israel is engaged in a brutal campaign that has targeted hospitals and killed at least 1,800 people over the past month.

Israel has completely besieged northern Gaza and prevented aid from entering, in what is seen as a campaign to kill, starve or expel the region’s remaining residents.

According to the UN, at least 1.9 million people, or about 90 percent of Gaza’s population, are now internally displaced, some having been displaced 10 or more times.

Last week, the World Food Program (WFP) called for immediate action to try to prevent famine as Israel continues to obstruct emergency aid efforts.

“Now, as the situation in northern Gaza continues to deteriorate, the likelihood that a larger group will be affected by famine will surely increase unless conditions on the ground improve,” said the PAM in a press release.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 43,601 Palestinians and injured more than 101,223 others since October 7, 2023.
