Xaverian and Brockton through the years – Boston Herald

Xaverian and Brockton competed for nearly a quarter century in one of New England’s premier non-league competitions before the series ended in 2021. The two schools will meet in the first round of the state tournament of Division 1 2024 Friday evening at the Bol de falcon.

By popular demand, a look at the rivalry through the years is back.

1988: Brockton 52, -time (24-17). The second half was a different story as Rudy Harris (242 yards and four touchdowns) and Chris Campbell (108 yards) ran roughshod over Xaverian.

1989: BROCKTON 39, Xaverian 18 – Just like the year before, the ground game was the story. The quartet of Anthony Comer (204), Chris Campbell (109), Adam Williams (97) and Bobby Zurinskas (67) combined to rush for 473 ungodly yards.

1997: Xaverian 28, BROCKTON 2 – Xaverian wins the battle but loses the war. After throwing his fourth touchdown pass, quarterback Brian Mann breaks a bone in his passing hand. He did not return as quarterback until the Thanksgiving War with St. John’s Prep.
