When is Election Day 2024?

Election Day will be this Tuesday, November 5, 2024. This will be the last day to vote in the 2024 general election. Washoe County polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. However, you do not need to have cast your ballot by 7 p.m. If you get in line before 7 p.m. on Election Day, you can still vote, regardless of how long it takes you to get to the voting booth.

Why are news organizations reporting early election results as if everyone will vote along party lines?

The political system in the United States is a two-party system. For this reason, well-known third-party candidates running in federal elections generally do not show up on Election Day.
