The 14th Graffiato: Taupō Street Art Festival was a resounding success, Towncentre Taupō general manager Julie McLeod said.

“There are now seven stunning new murals across our town centre, as well as a really exciting refresh and update to the Hub’s large helicopter.”

The popular event brought a splash of color to the town during the Labor weekend last month.

From big, bright colors and larger-than-life designs to small, intricate fairies that can be held in the palm of your hand, McLeod said she thinks artists have gone the extra mile this year to make sure their works stand out.

“We now have two cat murals, galloping Kaimanawa horses, glowing ancient lanterns and luminous chrysalises, a larger-than-life anti-hero frog shooting a laser beam, crisp Pasifika design, iconic and colorful symbols of Kiwiana and hilariously expressive characters on the aforementioned helicopter.
