Suzuki has finally revealed its first battery electric vehicle – the e Vitara

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has finally been revealed as we compare the specifications with the Tata Nexon EV. Note that the e Vitara was unveiled in Europe and marks a new chapter in Suzuki’s long history. In fact, it has received a lot of criticism from auto experts and customers for not jumping into the electric vehicle race. Nonetheless, the e Vitara is the answer to all these criticisms and an indication of things to come. The Japanese auto giant presented the specifications and dimensions of the electric SUV. Here are the details.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara vs Tata Nexon EV – Specifications

Based on the HEARTECT-e architecture, Suzuki e Vitara is available in two versions with a 49 kWh or 61 kWh LFP battery. The top trim with the larger battery will offer a 4WD setup. With these batteries, power outputs and torque range from 142 hp / 189 Nm to 172 hp / 189 Nm and 181 hp / 300 Nm (AWD). There are two independent eAxles to complement the ALLGRIP-e technology and enable 4-wheel drive. It benefits from a ground clearance of 180 mm. The curb weight ranges from 1,702 kg to 1,899 kg. It will wear 18- or 19-inch alloys with ventilated disc brakes on both wheels. More details regarding battery life, charging times, acceleration, etc. will appear later.

On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV is also available in two variants: Medium Range (MR) with a 30.2 kWh battery and Long Range (LR) with a 40.5 kWh battery. The result is a healthy range of 325 km and 465 km, respectively. Apart from this, the power and torque figures range from 127 hp / 215 Nm to 143 hp / 215 Nm respectively. Unlike the e Vitara, the Nexon EV is on sale only in 2WD configuration. Acceleration of the electric vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 8.9 seconds. With a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 100% in just 56 minutes.
