Ember Month: Osun FRSC calls for caution and safe driving

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Osun State Command has urged road users to adopt safe driving practices during the “ember months” to help reduce road accidents in the whole state.

This call was made by the Osun Sector Commander, Sokumbi Adeyemi, during a press briefing on Tuesday in Osogbo.

Adeyemi stressed the importance of passengers familiarizing themselves with road safety rules to help protect lives.

The event, whose theme was “Let’s talk about dangerous driving: Road accidents kill more passengers than drivers”, highlighted the essential role that passengers play in ensuring road safety.

Adeyemi also encouraged passengers to report drivers engaging in unsafe behavior, thereby helping to prevent possible accidents.

He stressed that road safety is a shared responsibility, urging everyone to play a role in combating road abuse.

The FRSC, he noted, has developed strategic policies and partnered with key stakeholders to create a unified approach to achieving its security objectives.

“The key to advocacy is working in the area of awareness among road users and we will not stop in ensuring the safety of lives and properties in the state.

“I wish to say that the command advises road users against driving at night and will do everything to ensure the safety of lives in the event of an eventuality,” Adeyemi said.

He warned road users to ensure they use their seat belts, proper documentation on the passenger manifest and also support responsible driving.

Adeyemi, however, said the command would not hesitate to deal with any traffic violator when apprehended before, during and after the ember months.
