Apple pledges $10 million to Indonesian factory to circumvent iPhone 16 ban

A week ago, Apple found itself in a difficult situation with the ban on the sale of its iPhone 16 and Apple Watch 10 series in Indonesia. This problem is a direct result of unmet investment commitments in the country, which require companies to provide 40% local content in order to operate locally.

In a new development, Bloomberg News reports that Apple will invest $10 million in a new factory in Bandung. The investment would be made alongside Apple’s local supplier, Yageo Corporation, with the new facility dedicated to manufacturing accessories and components for Apple devices.

According to the new report, Apple has submitted its proposal to the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and is awaiting approval to ban its devices. Apple is not the only tech company facing problems in Indonesia, as Google was also banned from selling its Pixel 9 series for failing to comply with the 40% local content rule.
