Power will be restored to some homes on the Palos Verdes Peninsula

Top line:

Power will be restored to 28 homes in Rancho Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills as early as Friday, an Edison Southern California spokesperson told LAist.

How it will work: Gabriela Ornelas, a spokeswoman for the utility company, said the company was working on getting the circuits energized. While some of the 28 homes will have power immediately restored, others will need to work with the utility company for additional inspections of their home’s electrical equipment so that power can be restored in the coming days.

Homes are located in the western area of Rancho Palos Verdes and the northernmost area of Rolling Hills.

What about the rest of the houses: More than 200 homes on the Palos Verdes Peninsula are still without electricity after accelerated ground movements in recent months, the power lines have been destabilized.

Ornelas said that while the SCE has identified some areas in which to restore power, it “continues to explore additional solutions for other parts of the peninsula, as we have done since the beginning of the situation.”

Resources for residents still without power:

  • Those who use electricity for their medical equipment may be eligible for batteries to power their medical devices. Residents can check SCE Market for available discounts.
  • Some residents may be eligible for a rental battery or rebate to use for a portable battery or generator. For more information, visit the SCE website Customer Support and Resources Website.
