We may be well past the start of school, but Lisa still dresses like it’s the first day of school. The Blackpink star just showed off a pair of bookish schoolgirl outfits that went all out with pleated skirts, nostalgic knits and prints, and preppy flat-soled sneakers.

It was only fitting that Lisa’s first outfit came from a master of twisted preppy style: Thom Browne. The singer donned a graphic cardigan and matching tee, both printed with a navy damask pattern. She paired these pieces with an ultra high-waisted pleated skirt and black and white Mary Janes worn with exposed socks.

Lisa continued her erudite streak from there by deciding to lean into a fall color palette with another bookish outfit. The rapper chose a fitted suit jacket and matching mini skirt featuring a dark brown check pattern. Lisa tied the gray of her turtleneck with coordinating tube socks which she styled with black loafers.

For someone who spends most of her time in flirty knit dresses and rocker-style leathers, Lisa’s latest round of outfits is certainly a departure from her usual style. But of course, Lisa isn’t just the only star to rock the preppy look.

Pleated mini skirts, button-down cardigans and especially all-black loafers like the pair Lisa just wore have been on the rise among celebrities. Look no further than recent moments of Hailey Bieber And Nicole Kidman or even the fashion shows of brands like Prada and Miu Miu. Even Lisa’s Blackpink band member Jenny Kim tested the schoolgirl style during Paris Fashion Week. Jennie completed her look with a typically masculine accessory that has recently been all the rage among fashion girls: a bold patterned tie.

Maybe in one of these two looks, Lisa can finally “teach me Japanese.”
