Daniel Craig hopes Netflix will give new movie ‘Knives Out’ a real theatrical release

THE “At loggerheads“The franchise is one of the most popular today. The first film not only made a lot of money at the box office, but it was also nominated for an Oscar. That’s why Netflix stepped in and made a deal for more “Knives Out” features to be released on the streaming service. But it seems now, Daniel Craigstar of the franchise, is a little upset with how the films actually came out.

Talk to VarietyDaniel Craig has spoken about his desire for Netflix to actually give the next one a full theatrical release”Wake Up, Dead Man: A Mystery at Knives Out.” He believes that the film deserves to be seen on the big screen by as many people as possible. Unfortunately, that’s just not how Netflix does business.

“I hope Netflix releases it a little bit and people can see it,” Craig said. “The people I talk to – the fans, I guess – all they want to do is take their family and go see it in the theater. That’s all they want to do. I hope we can offer them this experience.

For those who don’t know, Netflix generally doesn’t offer full theatrical releases for its feature films. Most of the time the film is screened with the bare minimum to be considered for awards, and nothing more. This usually means that a film is seen in a handful of theaters about a week before it arrives on the streaming service.

Daniel Craig is not a fan of this situation. He wants the “Knives Out” films to be seen by everyone in cinemas. He is would have spoke to the boss of Netflix, Ted Sarandoson this subject, where he expressed his frustration. But it doesn’t seem like it worked at all.

That said, it was recently revealed that Netflix could pull off a more robust theatrical release for the “Chronicles of Narnia” film this Greta Gerwig East currently working on. However, if that happens, it could lead to more filmmakers and stars (like Craig) demanding the same for their own projects. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

But for now, it doesn’t look like the “Knives Out” franchise will get a full theatrical release, regardless of Daniel Craig’s hopes.
