Proton’s first production electric vehicle is now open for booking nationwide at an estimated price of RM120,000! The national automaker unveiled the Proton eMas 7 (stylized as e.MAS 7) on the first day of paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE) 2024 at Setia City Convention Center, and the interior is open to the public for the first time. Free entry, so come see for yourself.

In addition to this very attractive estimated price of RM120,000 (this is a larger and much more modern SUV than the gift pack worth RM1,000. This offer is valid from today until the eMas 7 launch date, which has been confirmed to be sometime in December (possibly in KLIMS 2024). The booking fee is RM500.

Aside from the price/package and specifications (more details below), Proton also announced the launch of the “e.MAS app” at ACE 2024. The app is described as a “platform- dynamic form designed to enhance user experience, from booking to ownership.” . We already know a lot about the eMas 7 – it’s based on the Geely Galaxy E5, but Proton says the two companies worked together simultaneously on the model, involving 230 Proton engineers and designers, 700,000 man hours and more than 10 million kilometers of testing. . The front-mounted electric motor produces 160 kW (218 hp) and 320 Nm of torque, propelling the Proton to its fastest-ever acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. By the way, Proton claims that the SUV’s Cd value of 0.275 has lower wind resistance than a bullet.

Both variants of the electric vehicle, Prime and Premium, are revealed today at ACE 2024. The base Prime comes with a 49.52 kWh Aegis Short Blade Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery that’s good for 345 km of WLTP range (it’s good that Proton uses WLTP in its materials, the super optimistic CLTC is 440 km). The Premium has a 60.22 kWh battery with a WLTP range of 410 km (Geely’s CLTC figure is 530 km). DC fast charging from 10 to 80% SoC takes 30 minutes.

We must talk about the interior, since we are seeing it for the first time. Aside from the badges and the fact that it’s an RHD, the cabin looks pretty much like the Galaxy E5, right down to the slightly oblong two-spoke steering wheel, the 10.2-inch dashboard, to the 15.4-inch, 2.5K resolution, two-level infotainment touchscreen. center console and even the flowing line pattern on the center console and seats.

The screens run on Flyme OS, developed by Geely-owned smartphone maker Meizu. The central touchscreen controls various functions, including air conditioning temperature and fan speed, driving modes, ADAS settings, and operation of the panoramic sunroof and sunshade. A color head-up display is also present. Music is played through 16 Flyme Sound Wanos speakers, including in the front headrests.

Let’s talk about the shifters: to the right of the steering wheel is the Mercedes-style column-mounted gear selector; left control indicators, front and rear wipers/washers, and manual/automatic high beam toggle. The center console houses a large volume knob and four physical buttons (front fog, recirculation, automatic climate control, and climate control on/off). Below that are twin swing-lid cupholders and a wireless phone charger. The armrest box contains a key fob charger.

In addition to providing storage, the lower level of the center console includes a 12V outlet, a USB-A port, and a USB-C port (you’ll also find USB-A and USB-C ports under the air vents). rear ventilation). The rear quarters are spacious, thanks to a flat floor and a long wheelbase of 2,750 mm. There are storage drawers under the rear seats and under the rear air vents, as well as underfloor storage in the trunk, but there is no front trunk/trunk.

Speaking of storage, Proton touts 33 best-in-class storage spaces. In addition to the 461L boot and 51L boot (1,877 liters with the rear seats folded), there are 14 liters of under-seat storage and the ‘hidden deck’ is a 10.8 liter space.

Let’s go back to the two variants. We don’t have the full spec sheet yet, but we do know that the Prime will get 18-inch alloys, the 15.4-inch infotainment screen, a remote control and ADAS Level 2 (yes, ADAS is standard for the first time on a Proton). The Premium adds 19-inch alloys, the 16-speaker Flyme audio system, a head-up display and ventilated front seats.

Available colors are Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose and Lithium White. There is only one Indigo Blue shade for the cabin. We’ve put a full interior gallery below for your perusal, but really, there’s nothing like seeing it for yourself. Come to ACE 2024 to get a closer look at Proton’s first electric vehicle and bring your family for a test drive.
