Boil water advisory issued for some Polk County residents

POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) – Some Polk County residents are under a boil water advisory Tuesday.

This includes Leggett Water Supply customers on Marston and Oats Road, Willow Lane and Old Highway 35.

All residents must boil their water before consuming it (e.g. washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.). Children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria.

To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water intended for human consumption, cooking and ice making must be boiled and cooled before being used for human consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous boil, then boiled for two minutes.

Instead of boiling, individuals can purchase bottled water or obtain water from another suitable source.

Leggett Water Supply can be contacted at 936-328-8582 or 936-327-4717. The general manager can be reached at 512-239-4691.
