La Liga side Girona secured a very unwanted piece of Champions League history this evening.

This is due to developments in the Catalans’ meeting with Dutch giant PSV Eindhoven.

Michel’s troops recently made their return to action, traveling to the Philips Stadion for the fourth appearance of the club’s European campaign.

And, in the end, Girona found themselves condemned to the wrong side of an eventual 4-0 result.

The last of PSV’s four goals came courtesy of one of the visitors’ stars, Ladislav Krejčí, who scored an own goal in the final minutes of the match.

And it is thanks to this that Girona entered history.

As Opta statisticians reveal:

“Girona have scored four own goals in just four Champions League matches this season, the most of any team in a single edition in the history of the competition.”

This comes after Blanquivermells also scored at the wrong end against Paris Saint-Germain and Feyenoord.
