Missing 19-year-old student found dead in national park

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (KKTV/Gray News) – Authorities in Colorado say the search for a missing college student has come to a tragic end.

The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of 19-year-old Dallas Roberts over the weekend.

Authorities said the Colorado Mesa University student was last seen alive Oct. 28 while driving in the Black Canyon area of ​​Gunnison National Park.

Park rangers said that during their search for the 19-year-old, they discovered his vehicle had crashed about 150 feet off a road and down a hill in the park.

Montrose County authorities called the help from the public to find Roberts after rangers failed to find him at the accident scene.

Last Saturday, authorities finally called off the search after crews reported finding Roberts’ body.

No further immediate information was released regarding the student’s death.
