During her time in the House of Representatives, Greene made several statements referencing conspiracy theories regarding both the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 election.

His promotion of COVID-19 conspiracies led to his X account (while it was still Twitter) being banned in 2022, although it was reinstated after Elon Musk purchased the platform .

Perhaps her most notable comment regarding the pandemic was when she compared wearing masks to the Holocaust, noting that she ended up apologizing after drawing fierce reproaches.

“I am very sorry for offending people with remarks about the Holocaust,” Greene said on the occasion. “There is no comparison and there never will be.”

These remarks led Greene to be stripped of her House committee assignments a month into her mandate in 2021, even though she was appointed to new committees after Republicans take control of the chamber in 2023.

Greene is no stranger to heated arguments with her House colleagues and has previously sparred with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, including former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney and Democratic Representative. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

On social media, Greene “liked” a Facebook comment calling for a “shot to the head” of the then-Speaker of the House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi and I wondered if a California wildfire was started by a space laser.

When his Republican colleague. Lauren Boebert — another firestarter in Congress — introduced articles of impeachment against the president Joe Biden in 2023, after Greene presented similar articles, the Georgia congresswoman confronted her on the House floor.

“I gave you a gift, I defended you. But you were just a little bitch to me” Greene told Boebert in front of their colleagues.

Greene’s second term in Congress was overshadowed by the GOP’s infighting as the majority party in the House. The Rome, Georgia native unsuccessfully filed a lawsuit motion to delete President of the Republican Chamber Mike Johnson of his position, a role to which he was elevated after the ousting of the Republicans Previous President Kevin McCarthy.

After Georgia and other Southern states were devastated by hurricane Helene in September, Greene – who denies the impact of human activity on climate change – popularized a false right-wing conspiracy theory that the government controlled the weather and sent hurricanes to Republican areas before the election.

Before Helene made landfall, Greene was one of the House Republicans who voted against providing additional FEMA funding to help with recovery efforts.
