(ABC 6 News) — The search for a missing Iowa news anchor has expanded to south-central Minnesota.

According to the website Finding Jodiinvestigators from Mason City, Iowa, recently searched an area of ​​Winsted, Minnesota – about an hour west of Minneapolis – following a lead.

Chief Jeff Brinkley of the Mason City Police Department confirmed the news in a statement which read:

“MCPD recently worked with Minnesota law enforcement to follow up on a lead in Winsted. MCPD continues to regularly receive, evaluate and follow up on information it receives regarding the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit. Information collected through these efforts will be used in the ongoing investigation. At this time, there is no additional information to make public. We would like to encourage anyone with information regarding Jodi’s disappearance to contact MCPD or the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

Jodi Huisentruit disappeared on June 27, 1995, while on her way to work in the morning. The police concluded, based on the evidence collected at the scene, that Huisentruit had been kidnapped. She has not been seen since.

Caroline Lowe of findjodi.com said the ruling was “the first active movement we’ve seen in this case in some time.”

“So it intrigued us,” she said, “…and we don’t know what to think about it.” We have already carried out a lot of research over almost 30 years. For his family, it’s year after year without knowing.

Earlier this year, on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of his disappearancefriends, family and activists gathered in Mason City to pay their respects. At the event, Patty Wetterling, whose son had been kidnapped in 1989, spoke and a statement from Huisentruit’s family was read.

“It’s hard to believe that it’s now been almost 30 years since we had the opportunity to talk, hug or laugh with our dear sister, aunt and friend. None of us could have imagined when this first happened that we would still be here waiting for answers and for justice to be served in his case,” she said.
