Lauren Boebert wins election after switching districts, NBC News projects

Representative Lauren Boebert successfully obtained another mandate in Congress after a high-stakes campaign that saw the controversial Colorado congresswoman change districts to boost her chances.

Boebert won his election with 53 percent of the vote, according to a BNC News. 82 percent of the votes had been counted when the race was called.

The result indicates that Boebert’s hardline conservatism continues to resonate with his Colrado voting base. His new district, which stretches from Fort Collins to the Eastern Plains, is largely populated by a reliable base of conservative voters aligned with his pro-gun, pro-Trump agenda.

She also benefited from the support of Donald Trumpwhich, according to some political analysts, should not be underestimated.

Bobert nearly lost his 2022 re-election bid and faced fierce opposition in his former district, with celebrities such as Star Wars actor Mark Hamill supporting his opponent, Trisha Calvarese.

Before the primary election, Boebert moved from the 3rd Congressional District to the 4th, which had an open seat following the retirement of Rep. Ken Buck and is considered a safer district. Republican district.

No public polling was conducted before the election for Boebert’s race, but The economist gave him an almost certain chance of winning.

The outlet’s prediction model, based on 10,000 simulated elections, national polls, voting history and fundraising in October, found Boebert had a 23 percent margin.

Boebert ran a campaign that doubled down on his signature issues: gun rights, border security and energy independence.

As a staunch defender of the Second Amendment, she warned voters that their gun rights were threatened by Democrats. Boebert also criticized the Biden administration’s regulations on oil and gas.

Trump supported Boebert from the start, cementing her position as a champion of the MAGA wing of the party. Republican Party. Trump’s support, combined with her alignment with high-profile conservative voices, helped her gain significant popular and financial support.

“President Trump’s support cannot be underestimated,” Democrats say. CBS said Colorado Democratic political analyst Mike Dino. “That was very helpful to her early on because, you know, it was a big risk for her to leave her comfortable — or at least seemingly comfortable — 3rd Congressional District and cross the Continental Divide.”

Calvarese, Boebert’s Democratic challenger, benefited from last-minute fundraising in the month leading up to the election.

She raised an additional $560,000, according to an Oct. 16 filing, bringing her total collection to $3.74 million. She and Boebert and similar amounts in cash, according to the Oct. 16 filing, but Calvarese’s fundraising was still lower than that of Boebert, who raised $4.48 million.

Buck held the seat Boebert holds for nine years and was re-elected in 2022 with 61% of the vote. No Democrat has won the seat since 2008, and Boebert’s election victory Tuesday night stood in stark contrast to his 2022 performance.

In 2022, she won just 546 votes in one of the country’s closest electoral contests.

Boebert said she changed districts to give her family a “fresh start.” In 2023, she filed for divorce from her husband, Jayson Boebert.

A few months after the filing, Boebert was asked to leave a performance of the musical Beetle juice for disruptive behavior which included “vaping, singing and causing a disturbance.” She posted on X, formerly Twitterthat she was guilty of enjoying the show and laughing.

Video footage from the theater showed Boebert and her date, Denver bar owner Quinn Gallagher, fondling each other, which Boebert initially denied doing.

“There is no perfect model for navigating a public and difficult divorce, which over the past few months has been a difficult personal time for me and my entire family. I have tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I could, but I just didn’t hit my numbers on Sunday,” Boebert said at the time.

Boebert is expected to continue his vocal opposition to the Biden administration and promote its agenda focused on limiting government regulation, protecting gun rights and defending energy independence.

His election solidifies his position as a key player in the House Freedom Caucus and a leading voice of the populist right within the Republican Party.
