OAKLAND, California. – Some voters were turned away at a Bay Area polling station amid heightened fire concerns.

The voting center at Oakland’s Joaquin Miller Park on Sanborn Drive was closed Tuesday amid a red flag warning.

“All voters will be directed to voting center #72 at Montera Middle School, located at 5555 Ascot Drive,” the release said. Alameda County Voter Register said.

Those looking to drop off their ballots were directed to a drop box near Woodminster Market, located at 5000 Woodminster Lane in Oakland.

The polling station then closes PG&E notified 20,000 customers in 17 counties face possible power outages due to high winds and dry conditions expected this week.

In the Bay Area, two polling places were in the area affected by the outage.

If the power goes out on Election Day, PG&E said it won’t happen until 9:30 p.m., after the polls close.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red flag warning for much of the Bay Area, Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. through Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m.

The agency said “critical fire weather conditions are likely or imminent.” These conditions include strong winds, low humidity and dry brush.
