Aiyedatiwa signs N96 billion supplementary budget, secures N73,000 minimum wage

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has signed the 2024 state supplementary budget into law.

He said the move had become imperative in order to meet the new financial commitments of the state government.

The supplementary budget covers the payment of the new minimum wage of N73,000 recently approved for workers by Aiyedatiwa, as well as the salaries of newly recruited workers in the different sectors of the state’s economy.

The supplementary budget of N96,788,100,000, as approved by the State Assembly, was signed by Aiyedatiwa at the Executive Council Room of the Governor’s Office, bringing the total budget for 2024 to a total of N492 045,100,000 N.

With a budget consisting of recurrent expenditure of N246,727,852,786 and capital expenditure of N245,317,247,214, Aiyedatiwa said the supplementary budget reflects his administration’s determination to focus on the welfare of workers and the development of 18 local government areas of the state.

Furthermore, the governor also signed into law the bill providing for the expansion of the board of directors of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC.

According to Aiyedatiwa, the new law will ensure inclusiveness and better equitable representation of the mandated areas.
