Bodycam footage shows what caused wild scene with police and fans during Georgia-Florida game

The Jacksonville Police Department revealed body camera footage showing new details of the wild brawl between officers and supporters during Saturday’s Georgia-Florida contest, including a fan threatening to “kill a cop” and using racial slurs.

Sheriff TK Waters said his office’s professional standards division found his officers did not violate department policies during the altercations that resulted in the arrests of four people.

“In this case, the cellphone video that has been circulating since Saturday does not fully capture the circumstances surrounding these cases, and that is normal,” The waters said.

The first arrest and incident involved two police officers and a male fan.

Bodycam videos from two officers showed how they were taken to the top of EverBank Stadium to assist in the eviction of a fan, identified as Walter Brown, who did not want to leave.

“You remember I told you: I’m either going to kill a cop or I’m not leaving. One or the other,” Brown told a woman standing in the row above him.

After drawing the Taser gun, the fan said, “Tase me.”

An officer tried to calmly persuade Brown to leave, with the fan retorting that he had done nothing wrong according to the law and that a woman had tried to kidnap his children.

Brown said he would not leave with his five children present, to which the officer responded that he could leave with the children or go to jail.

“I will go to prison. I don’t care, because I’m going to kick your ass,” Brown said while identifying the officer by his name on his uniform.

When one of the police officers touched the man while he was arguing, he uttered racist insults towards him.

That officer then subpoenaed Brown while the other attempted to handcuff him, which did not go well.

Brown stood up in anger, unleashing several more racial slurs while telling the officer to draw his gun. A man and woman behind him tried to calm the fan, but to no avail.

Another Taser shot stunned Brown, and that’s when the incident turned physical as officers attempted to handcuff the fan.

One of the videos released by police showed Brown grabbing an officer’s gun during the melee, although he was unable to remove the weapon.

Brown also reportedly said during his arrest “You will be prosecuted” and “I’m about to get rich.” He then repeatedly claimed that he had done nothing.

Some section supporters then began taunting the officers, saying they would lose their jobs.

The second incident occurred on the field.

A fan from Georgia approached one of the police officers saying that someone had asked her if she could send someone to him, and a fan told a police officer to “help this guy” while he was heading towards the person in question.

What appeared to be a security official said three fans needed to be removed.

One of the fans, identified as Michael Long, said they were “having fun” and tried to shift the blame to other fans.

“We’ve been great guys,” Long said. “It’s not us.”

Three officers eventually arrived on scene and things quickly got out of hand.

An officer told one of the fans “don’t touch me” as Long asked why he was being ejected. He then walked away and returned to his place.

An officer then came down to grab Long, who resisted, and then a mini-fight broke out.

The officer then appeared to begin swinging at Long.

Another fan, identified as Alexander Long, wrapped his arm around another officer and the fan was eventually pinned to the ground.

Michael received several more blows as fans screamed in shock.

One of the officers could be heard saying “don’t swing.”

As the officer restrained Alexander, he told him to put his right hand on his back and threatened him.

“I’m about to tackle you, you better take your hand away,” the officer said.

Alexander repeatedly said, “I can’t move” and “I didn’t do anything” while he was handcuffed.

An officer then said one of the fans put his hands on an officer.

The third fan apparently put his hands on one of the police officers before another fan grabbed him by the neck from behind and pulled him backwards over a seat to incapacitate him.

This fan was also handcuffed and removed.
