A new report ranks Newcastle United’s young stars among the most valuable under-21 players in the world.

An interesting new report has named two young Newcastle United stars among the 1oo most valuable under-21s in world football.

The CIES Football Observatory report:

“The 100 players worldwide who have not yet celebrated their 21st birthday with the highest transfer value according to the CIES Football Observatory statistical model.

Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal (Barcelona, €180.9 million*) is ahead of Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United, €114.8 million) and Warren Zaire-Emery (Paris St-Germain, €109.0 million). A fourth youngster is valued at more than 100 million euros: Sávio Moreira (Manchester City, 101.0 million euros).

Obviously, any formula used to value players, especially younger ones, is based on little more than a lot of evidence, and is largely based on vague estimates.

This is what the top of the report’s top 100 looks like, places 1-20:

The most valuable under-21s in the world - top

Digging a little further down, you find two young Newcastle United stars ranked 31st and 44th in this most valuable under-21 report:

The most valuable among under-21s

Lewis Hall is therefore ranked 31st with a value of €39.0 million (around £32.5 million).

Next, Lewis Miley ranked 44th with a value of €33.6 million (around £28.0 million).

With Lewis Miley, 18, it is even more difficult to value such a young player.

However, it is fair to say that with Newcastle United having committed to spending £28 million on Lewis Room despite being just 18 years old and having started just eight Premier League matches in his career, he is already worth far more than the £32.5m valuation listed in the report.

Eddie Howe has helped him progress massively and with Lewis Hall now a Premier League regular and widely expected to be named in Thursday’s England squad, in today’s transfer market I think you already see that Hall has doubled in value, if only for some crazy reason. NUFC were ready to sell it.
