Linkin Park single still reaching new heights, almost a quarter of a century later

Linkin Park scored one of the biggest hits in hard rock history with “In the End”, which proved to be a hit across all genres. The song, which includes dark lyrical content and even former singer Chester Bennington’s signature screams, proved popular outside of just the rock space, and it remains a classic for a generation of music lovers.

“In the End” is booming in America this week. Linkin Park’s success is once again doing well, and it even manages to reach a new peak on a Billboard chart.

The single that made Linkin Park a household name is making an impressive jump up the Alternative Streaming Songs chart. “In the End” moves from No. 21 to No. 15, which is now the song’s all-time high, at least on the list of most streamed alternative songs in the country.

“In the End” reaches this new peak after more than six months on the streaming alternative songs chart. The track has now spent 27 non-consecutive weeks on the charts, and is likely to increase that sum further, as the smash is clearly still hugely popular.

As it rises on the streaming alternative songs chart, “In the End” is also back on another tally. Linkin Park sees its first big success return to the Rock Streaming Songs ranking, at number 25. The song is once again in charge of the Hard Rock Streaming Songs roster.

“In the End” was released in October 2001 as the final single from Linkin Park’s debut album. Hybrid theoryarrived a year earlier. Many casual listeners, and even many who love the band, may not know that the song was closing out this era of the band, rather than leading it. It may seem that way since the song became the breakout hit from the blockbuster album, but in some ways the track was a closing, not an opening.

Linkin Park has five spots on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart this week. This lineup includes two of their most successful and recognizable tracks – “In the End” and “Numb,” which occupy numbers 1 and 2 respectively – as well as three cuts from their upcoming album, From scratch. All of the singles from the project – “The Emptiness Machine” (No. 8), “Heavy is the Crown” (No. 24) and “Over Each Other” (No. 21) – are all on the list as well. .
